tim xavier and tony rohr are back with another genre-pushing release on clink. acclaimed for its original sound, this label has brought us unique imprints for the last two years and is still heading at full-force. goodbye fort greene is another afternoon coffee boys massive, and my drunk foot is a quirky, rousing minimal twister to >freak they minds<. these tunes have been hammered by the clink team all summer and are finally making their way to the shelves this fall
busted speaker brew is the second installation by the afternoon coffee boys on clink recordings. this new minimal rocker walks the fine line between minimal and techno with acb’s signature drum programming and short decay instrumentation. the afternoon coffee boys, aka tim xavier and tony rohr, released their debut collaborative release on clink001 last year with one of the bigger eps of 2005: dark blend. their follow-up ep on cocoon, >glitches brew<, was released at the beginning of this year and was a huge success. their music has been praised by top artists such as adam beyer, richie hawtin, sven väth and marco carola, and they show promise as one of the new leading duos of 2006. this ep is an excellent release as acb continues to push the minimal edge with their techno influences by keeping the tracks rhythmic and driving while maintaining the slow, deep and funky pace that djs are currently pursuing in their sets
e is sky is a collective born out of these first collaborations between melbourne based experimental composer corin, electronic-pop musician sui zhen and music producer casey hartnett.
>another psychedelic afternoon< lunges in with minimalistic percussion, acidic bass lines and radio voices. the progression of the track keeps one moving while the fluctuation in the velocity and warmth of the sound keeps the explorative side of the acoustics and rhythm flowing. >performer< switches the mood into a darker tone with rolling waves of industrial synths creating a contrasting groove between high speed lighter synths and heavier drum and bass rolls before the second part of the track reshapes the track into more minimalistic and aggressive dance floor weapon.
shape-shifting post-punk quasi-legends bourbonese qualk are finally getting a bit of the shine they so richly deserve after years in obscurity, not least thanks to the retrospective compilation on mannequin back in 2015. now platform 23 are reissuing their classic album -laughing afternoon, originally released back in 1983 and having lost none of its impact. its a slippery, shape-shifting creation that veers between uneasy soundscapes and gutter-dwelling funk, with some truly visionary signal processing, electronic textures and more besides in the mix. its a crime this crew arent held in the same regard as their other early 80s post-industrial peers, but at least the wrongs are being righted now.

uoho ruotsi marks his fifth release on de fchild with an ep that explores a wide tonal and textural palette while indulging in his characteristic dub-influenced production. starting of with a deep textural excursion on bramble bramble, sweet bits & afternoon delighting flirt randily with the outer limits of sound-design & the form of songwriting as it pertains to modern tech-house.
